Helping people remove ice from their cars

A friend of mine wanted to start a business to create an elevated snow scraper to help drivers remove ice from their cars.

Approach

We worked together for three years putting together a patent for the device, aligning on requirements for the industrial design, collecting marketing materials, and building a custom website to house their product and brand on Squarespace.

Result

A first-of-kind snow scraper called the Edge, which can be used to safely remove ice and snow from cars better than any other snowscraper out there. The Squarespace storefront has processed dozens of orders in the first couple of months since being launched. Check it out @ Edge.store Lessons: I worked on equity for this project and it was the first industrial product that I designed end-to-end- from early sketches of the product, patenting it, and distributing the product with my friend. I also built a custom XL Rat Rig 500x500 3D Printer to print out and distribute prototypes used for marketing and testing. I went out on the streets with the prototype to test it with real people to understand sentiment and ergonomics of using the device. Tons of lessons in this product which I’m still learning about today.
